A car flipped over in a four car collision on the A1m during rush hour this morning, with one person hospitalised and traffic backed up for miles.

The East of England Ambulance Service took one person to Lister Hospital with neck injuries after the accident just after 8.30am southbound between junctions 6 and 5.

The male driver of a blue Ford Mondeo which had overturned was out of the vehicle when the emergency services arrived.

The nearside lane was shut while the vehicle was recovered.

In a separate incident in Stevenage earlier this morning, a pedestrian was hospitalised after a collision with a car on Julia Gate.

The emergency services were called shortly after 12.30am. Two ambulance crews were sent.

A 47-year-old man was taken to Lister with minor injuries.
