A man has walked away virtually unscathed after the car he was driving crashed upside-down into a ditch in Hitchin this morning.
Ambulance crews from Hitchin and Letchworth were scrambled shortly before 5.30am to Hexton Road.
On arrival they found a 21-year-old from Bedfordshire outside of a red Peugeout 306 Turbo. He was suffering from shock, an impact to his chest where the seatbelt had stopped him and a cut to his leg. A paramedic treated him at the scene.
The force of the impact had thrown the engine out of the car.
Police closed the road at 7.38am while a recovery vehicle removed the car. The road was opened again shortly after 8am.
