BUSES will replace trains between Hitchin and Ely via Cambridge tonight (Wednesday) while track improvements and maintenance takes place.
The work will affect service from 11.45pm to 3.30am on Thursday morning with certain First Capital Connect (FCC) trains starting from or terminating at Stevenage during this period.
Passengers will have to find alternative services to travel between Stevenage and Hitchin to connect with the bus services. The 10.28pm departure from King’s Lynn will terminate at Cambridge for a replacement bus service to Hitchin and connecting train service to Kings Cross.
The maintenance work follows disruption yesterday (Tuesday) where a line problem in the Peterborough area caused delays between Hitchin and Peterborough on FCC trains, and widespread disruption on the East Coast Mainline.
