An air ambulance was called after a man suffered a serious head injury this morning, Wednesday.

The man, in his 40s, sustained the injury when he fell in Spring Road, Letchworth at 10.49am.

He was discovered by members of the public, who called emergency services, and was taken to Lister Hospital, Stevenage by land ambulance.

An East of England Ambulance spokesman said: “The man was found semi-conscious on a path by members of the public who immediately dialled 999. When our crews arrived at the scene, the man who we believe to be in his 40s condition deteriorated and the air ambulance was requested to attend the incident.

“Following treatment at the scene by paramedics and a doctor, the man was stable enough to travel to hospital by land ambulance. His condition is non-life threatening.”
