A MAIN road was gridlocked during rush hour this morning (Thursday) after a car caught on fire.
Fire crews and police were called to the A505 approaching Hitchin, at the junction with Moormead Hill, just after 8.30am.
It followed reports that a car was on fire.
Firefighters from Hitchin put the blaze out, while police dealt with traffic. Highways were also called, after oil was found on the road.
No one was injured, but the car was recovered.
