Part of the A1(M) will be closed overnight until the end of May after roadworks started last week to carry out pinch-point improvements.

The work is being carried out northbound between Junction 4 for Hatfield and Junction 6 for Welwyn.

The road will be closed between 10pm and 5am each night.

These works are part of the Government’s countrywide £317m programme to reduce congestion where three lanes turn into two.

A diversion will be in place for drivers via the A6129, B197 and the A1000.
