An 83-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after his car collided with a tree yesterday (Sunday).
The incident happened 11.30pm in Letchworth Lane, Letchworth GC when the man lost control of his blue VW Golf and hit a tree.
It is unknown why he lost control of the vehicle and officers from the Collision Investigation Unit have issued an appeal for information and witnesses.
The pensioner was taken to Lister Hospital, Stevenage where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
Investigating officer PC Andy Ralph said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have either witnessed the collision or have any information about the driver leading up to the incident taking place.”
