Police, paramedics and the fire service attended two crashes within minutes of each other on the A1(M) this morning (Monday).
The first incident, involving three cars, happened at about 6.30am between junctions 7 and 8 southbound of the motorway.
A few minutes later, at the same place, two cars were involved in a crash.
All five cars ended up on the hard shoulder. Nobody was injured and the vehicles were recovered by 9am.
