The A1(M) has been shut in both directions between Junction 8 and 7 for Stevenage following an incident.
Highways England has reported that both lanes are shut on each side of the carriageway and are expected to remain so until 7pm, although it may have already reopened according to other reports.
There are no further details about the incident at present, but police are on the scene and traffic is heavy in the area.
