A THREE car pile up caused the A1(M) to close this morning, leaving two people hospitalised and traffic at a standstill.
The emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway between Junction 9 for Letchworth GC and 10 for Stotfold following an accident at around 6am.
A silver Honda Civic, silver Mazda 6 and a delivery van all collided with one car catching fire.
A man with serious injuries and a woman with minor injuries were both taken to Lister Hospital for treatment.
The northbound stretch of the A1(M) from 9 to 10 was closed but reopened at around 9am.
Traffic is still backing up to Junction 8 for Stevenage.
