A driver who hit a telegraph poll, killing his passenger, has been jailed for three years after admitting death by dangerous driving.

Galen Hull, 26, of Wychdell, Stevenage was sentenced today (Thursday) by a judge at Reading Crown Court for causing the death of Kyle McCants, 21, in Binfield, Berkshire in February 2010 after admitting the charge at an earlier hearing.

Mr McCants, of Binfield, who was described by his family as having an “extraordinary passion for life,” was in the front passenger seat of Hull’s Alfa Romeo when he lost control. He died at the scene.

Hull was also disqualified from driving for five years.
