Torquay United have claimed they are yet to receive a fresh approach from Boro for Michael Brough.
Brough impressed during a recent loan spell at The Lamex Stadium and manager Graham Westley said he was keen to extend the 28-year-old's stay in Hertfordshire.
However, the two clubs could not agree on an extension to his initial loan spell and Torquay chief executive Colin Lee has revealed he is waiting for Boro to get back in contact with the Gulls.
"They have broken a loan, and when that happens, they will need to start another one if they want Michael back," said Lee. "It's up to them, and in the meantime Michael is back with us.
