Here are some top tips for what to do and what to wear on Saturday as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot.

Herts County Council has offered advice to anyone celebrating at one of the 51 street parties in Harpenden, Watford, Welwyn Garden City, Cheshunt, Bishops Stortford, Stevenage, Hatfield and Potters Bar.

Executive member for localism Terry Douris said: “We are delighted our residents are getting into the spirit of the Royal Wedding.

“Let’s hope the sun continues to shine and a fantastic day is had by all.”

The council recommends cucumber sandwiches, Victoria sponge cake, Pimms and lemonade, cocktail sausages, cheese and pineapple on sticks and pork pies to eat and drink.

Forecasters have predicted 20C and sunshine on Saturday, with no sign of rain, so there will be plenty of opportunities to hang bunting and get out the deck chairs and picnic tables.

The council has also asked partygoers to reculine as much as possible and think about having different bins for plastic, paper and glass.
