FOR the fourth year running Stevenage has collected more money for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal than any other town in Hertfordshire.
As a result the town has won the county trophy.
Chairman of the Stevenage branch, Stan Stokes, thanked those who gave more than £42,000 to the Poppy Appeal 2005.
Stan said collectors were met with cheerful smiles and big-hearted donations throughout Stevenage.
He would like to thank those shop managers, businesses and supermarket managers who allowed collections to be taken on their premises.
