A POLICE helicopter pursuit of three suspects after the attempted theft of a cash machine has resulted in three arrests.

After receiving reports from the public that three people were using cutting equipment to try and steal the cash machine from The Co-op on Mulberry Close in Stotfold, police put up road blocks.

The suspects made a gettaway in an estate car, heading towards Bedford, and officers pursued in cars while the police helicopter provided air support.

Ditching the car in Bedford, they fled on foot but were caught and arrested with the help of police dogs.

The incident happened on Sunday at about 11.40pm and the suspects have now been police bailed until April 10 pending further investigation.
