Stevenage were handed a home tie following the draw for the third round of the FA Cup.
Boro will host Sky Bet Championship side Reading at some point over the first weekend in 2018.
Reading, managed by former Manchester United favourite Jaap Stam, are currently 14th in the table after a 3-1 win over Sunderland at the weekend.
Stevenage booked their place in the third round with a thoroughly entertaining 5-2 win over Swindon Town at the Lamex on Saturday.
Two goals from Danny Newton plus one each for Alex Samuel, Matt Godden and Tom Pett did the damage.
The draw threw up some interesting ties with the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton the key among them.
