Thieves targeted at least nine vehicles, stealing one of them, during an overnight spree in Letchworth at the weekend – and police have today appealed for witnesses.
The thefts, in Bursland, Hallmead, Monklands and Mullway, happened between 11.30pm on Saturday and 9.30am – with cash and other items stolen along with a red Toyota Yaris.
Sgt Alan Clarke, from the Letchworth safer neighbourhood team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who believes they saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area overnight on Saturday to get in touch.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to ensure their vehicles are left secure and to remove all valuables.
“This type of crime is unusual in Letchworth and patrols have been increased in the local area while officers work to identify those responsible for these offences.
“If you have any information that you believe could assist the investigation, please contact police.”
The individual offences, which all occurred between 11pm on Saturday and 9.30am on Sunday, are as follows:
