Thieves who broke into a van and stole tools in Biggleswade in the early hours of yesterday morning fled when confronted by their victim.

Officers were called at about 2.50am to reports of the burglary in Lincoln Crescent.

The owner of the Volkswagen van was awoken by the noise and left the house to confront the thieves – who fled, dropping stolen tools on their way.

The victim describes three male offenders, all in black or dark clothing and driving a silver Vauxhall Corsa with the licence plate KD57 YZM.

A police spokeswoman said: “An appointment has been made to visit the victim to identify further investigative opportunities, and anyone with information is urged to contact police.”
