A Hitchin home has been burgled and ransacked seeing £100 worth of foreign currency stolen along with items of jewellery.

A house in Whitehill Road was broken into between 4pm on Friday and 8.30pm on Sunday with thieves taking £100 worth of rupees, leaving the property in an ‘untidy’ state.

Det Con Simon Goodship, from the local crime unit, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the times stated to please contact me.

“Any information could greatly assist our enquiries.”
