The Tennis Club Finals as expected on Saturday. Several matches had to be postponed because of illness and injury. Congratulations to Alison Johnson who managed to win the ladies singles, beating Debbie Hall. And to Rosy Skone who won the ladies' singles PLATE, against Jenny Milne. Sue Tringham and John Spiers were the mixed doubles PLATE winners, beating Debbie and Ian Hall I do not know why PLATE is in capitals. Perhaps it is an acronym, suggestions on a postcard, please. Ian Hall, meanwhile, was pipping Joe Suckling in a nail biting men's singles PLATE, with the sets one all and the games 4-3, when Joe added to the injury list by falling and hurting his ankle. Watch this space, and poor Joe's ankle, for the next thrilling instalment. If Wimbledon has whetted your appetite for the game, come along to the next Sunday Tournament on July 30.
