Enjoyed a beautiful sunny but breezy Sunday afternoon for its guided town walk. Led by Barry Groom the walkers followed the route in the Town Councils town walk written by Barry in 2002. Barry fascinated the walkers with tales of old Sandy and explained about the various buildings ands families that lived in the High Street, Water Lane (Ivel Road), the manor of Sandye Place, Mill Lane, Bedford Road and Market Square. Names of old Sandy families - Peel, Pym, Graves, Richardson, Davidson, all came to life again. Following the walk refreshments were served in the Rectory Room. The branch's next event is its autumn Barn Dance on Friday, September 22 at Sandy Upper School from 8pm to midnight. The Band Bricks and Brussels will provide the music and tickets, including supper are £7 and can be obtained from Branch Secretary Colin Osborne on 01767 682032. The Leprosy Mission's Autumn Quiz will also kicks off on September 22. This year we celebrated the 80th birthday of HM The Queen and her reign of 54 years, hence 54 main questions. Quiz sheets remain at just £1 and can be obtained from Colin with a closing date of October 29 and first prize for the winner is £20.
