Held its 5th Annual Quiz Evening on Friday last in the Rectory Room where 35 participants competed in seven teams against the wizardry of Quizmaster Stuart Mercer, assisted by his daughter Sarah. Stuart had once again put together an ambitious programme of some 124 questions ranging from British birds, television programmes, music tunes and pictures of obscure portraits from the National Gallery. Overall winners on the night were No Steve with 73 points the team consisting of Sue Foster, Kate and Carlos Vinent and two friends, Sue's husband was unable to take part, hence No Steve. Branch Secretary Colin Osborne was delighted with the turnout and the overall sum raised for the mission of £135.50, gifts were presented to Stuart and Sarah Mercer. Friday night saw the launch of the Leprosy Mission's Spring Quiz Competition based on advertising slogans and jingles (for example Beanz meanz) supporter Karen Watson has put together some brain tickling 125 questions, competition sheets are just £1 and can be obtained from Colin Osborne (2 Leeds Smith Drive or 682032). First prize is £20 and closing date is March 12. The Branch has also been running a Guess the Name of the Dalmatian Dog competition and Colin would like to thank all who took part and especially Mrs Bevan. The name of the dog was Hartley and the winner was Sandra Watson.
