LILY Wonham was flying high among the stars at The Priory School, Hitchin when the GCSE results were revealed.

She gained an astonishing 13 A*s and one A.

Other students who also did exceptionally well included Louise Chapman who achieved nine A*s and four As and Rowan Metcalfe who notched up three A*s and nine As.

Sam Giles gained seven GCSE A*s plus two BTEC distinction stars each equivalent to two GCSE A*s bringing the grand total to 11.

Headteacher Peter Loach said: "Our young people continue to make us all so proud of them. Their hard work, excellent teaching and support and caring parents have enabled virtually all of our students to do so admirably well.

"Of the 155 students taking BTECs and GCSEs, 65 per cent gained five or more A* - C grades, 47 per cent gained five or more A* - Cs with English and maths, while 96 per cent obtained five or more A* - G grades. We are delighted for all concerned.
