It began on a sad note with a two minute silence in memory of Margaret Rees, a long term member of the WI and a lady very well known in the village for all her work on the history of Shillington. Continuing with the meeting, annual reports were presented by the treasurer, secretary and president, all telling of a varied and busy year for the W.I. in Shillington. The outgoing president, Ida Winyard thanked all the committee members for their hard work during the year and for the members who attend the meetings each month and special events. After all the business of the evening, a furious game of Beetle was enjoyed with a lot of laughter and some very strange beetles. The meeting next month will be on Thursday April 6 when Ann Parsons will be speaking on Rhymes and Reminiscences. Ann is a very witty speaker, who has been to the WI before. The Lunch Club meet on Wednesday, March 15 at 12:15 at the Emmaus Village, Carlton. The Walking Club meet at 11am at the Five Bells in Henlow for a walk around The Lakes. The monthly meeting is at the Congregational Church Hall at 8pm on the first Thursday of the month, new members and visitors are welcome.
