Shefford Town Council takes place tomorrow, Friday in the Council Chamber, North Bridge Street, at 7.45pm All are welcome to attend.

Only one in the world: Shefford's Over 60s coffee Morning Club enjoyed a visit to the British Schools in Hitchin last week. Children were educated there since 1810. The tour commenced with an interesting account of the history of the site and how it was saved from being demolished. After refreshments, the group toured the museum before visiting the great hall and in the tiered classroom of a later date, tried writing on a slate and with a pen with nib and ink, with varied results. One naughty boy was caned and another had a dunces cap put on. Easter Bonnets will be displayed at the lunch on Wednesday, April 12, in a well supported competition organised by Elsie Lawrence. Trip Organiser Pam Cook has arranged a trip to Bressingham Gardens on Wednesday, April 26 and is looking into a visit to Southwold later. Details and payment for these subsidised events is available at the Wednesday morning sessions at the Shefford Community Hall, from 10am, or ring Treasurer Ivy Townsend on 01462 813259. The hall is nearing completion of refurbishment, with further work to be carried out when funds become available.
