I bet there are some great vicary stories Tony Russell will come out with, when he talks to the Letchworth Gate Afternoon Townswomen's Guild, at the Central Methodist Church Hall, Norton Way South, on Friday, April 7, at 2.15pm, admission 50p, visitors welcome. The Guild held its 40th AGM earlier this month. Nan Appleby retains the chairmanship and the officers and committee remain as before, with the exception of Sheila Smith who has retired. Secretary Pat Smith's report revealed that the Guild had a busy year and treasurer Doreen Sussons revealed that the Guild's financial state was healthy. Nan Appleby thanked everyone for their support and Ann Lilley thanked the committee members for their hard work. Joan Bennett read the report of a recent Federation meeting and arrangements were made for an outing to St Ives on market day and a trip to Clacton in the summer (do not hold your breath for the summer to come ladies). A quiz followed, compiled by Doris Jaszczak, which was won by Joan Bennett.
