Our fundraising stall at Ickwell May Day on Monday, May 1, made a profit of £150. Special thanks to David Huckle, who cycled from Sandy to help most of the day on the stall. On Sunday, May 14 the branch was responsible for serving refreshments at a Spring National Gardens Scheme event, in Bedford Road and £52.30 was raised for TLM funds and on May 20 saw our annual Market stall outside Budgens which raised £117.64. The branch hosted a table at the hugely successful May Ball on Saturday, May 13 organised by the Moggerhanger Lower School and held in Tempsford. A couple of events coming up shortly, the first being on the afternoon of June 19 when our Area Organiser, Mike Griffin, will visit Sandy and a lunch and meeting will be held in the Rectory Room starting at 12.30 and running until 4pm. After a buffet lunch there will be an opportunity to hear up to date news of TLM's work. This is an area event, but four of us from Sandy will attend. During the afternoon of Sunday, July 2 from 2 - 5.30pm Susan and David Sutton will open their fabulous garden at 33 Bedford Road for the Leprosy Mission. If you have not been before, you have missed a treat - it has been totally renovated during the past few years and now contains a sunken garden, water feature, arched walkway, ponds, roses as well as traditional flowers, fruit and vegetable beds. Admission is £2.50 and there will be a plant stall, home-made teas and a raffle, if you can help on the day, if only for an hour or two - please let me know. On Saturday, June 17, I shall be running our fundraising stall at the Sandy Summer Festival event at Sandy Place School following the carnival procession. For the first time ever, TLM is working in Angola this year on a prevention of injury and disability project.
