Very many thanks to Elizabeth and Roger Adams for hosting out latest video evening recently, where we experienced the Leprosy Missions work in Bangladesh and heard in particular the story of Banu, a young Bangladeshi woman. Many thanks too, to all who supported the annual jumble sale in St Swithun's Churchyard on Saturday, March 25 when £100 was made. Sunday, March 26 saw Colin Osborne in action in this year's Sandy 10 Run, which he did in 95 minutes. The Leprosy Mission can always make use of old coins, foreign currency, postcards and postage stamps and arecollecting Community Cash Points from inside the Biggleswade Chronicle. Following Colin's visit to Moggerhanger Parish Church, a May Ball is being organised on Saturday, May 13 at Tempsford Village Hall from 7.30pm to raise funds for Moggerhanger Lower School and the Leprosy Mission. Tickets, which include a buffet are just £15, let Colin know if you want to attend on 01767 682032 or at 2 Leeds Smith Drive. Our annual market stall outside Budgens is on Saturday, May 20. As many of you know, Colin was invited to join TLM's England and Wales National Council nearly six years ago. On April 1, he takes on the position of honorary treasurer, which is a job with responsibility but not too onerous as a full time Finance Officer is employed to undertake the day to day work. The missions staff are never far from the danger spots of the work - volunteering to assist in the earthquake relief operations in Pakistan, our staff based in Bali were only 20 minutes earlier, in the immediate vicinity of the Kuta Plaza bomb. TLM staff in Delhi were thankfully kept safe after three bombs exploded in October in different locations, killing 62 and injuring 210. Three staff in Nigeria suffered an armed robbery attack and held at gun point, their car, property and money were stolen and they were taken by their captors and tied up in the bush 25 miles away, they were delivered unharmed but badly shook up.
