Held their monthly lunch at the Conservative Bowls Club Pavilion on Thursday, March 23. The President, Margaret Bucke welcomed the members and Paula Allen said grace, with lunch following. A short business followed the lunch; Margaret Bucke confirmed that Eileen Quince was progressing well and Margaret Gaylor also after her spell in hospital. Special thanks were given to Margaret Kitchener for her work in remembering all members' birthdays, sending cards and gifts, etc. Nancy Lakin, Social Secretary, reminded the members that the April lunch will be at noon and not 12.15pm. The Dads Army experience was cancelled due to lack of support. The pub lunch for April 11 will be at the Coach House, Potton, meeting at noon. The holiday to Cardiff has a few places left if anyone would like to go. On June 6 there is a trip to Hendon Museum/Brent Cross shopping. The speaker Poppy Cope from Beeston spoke of her involvement with the Beeston Wildlife Group which had been running since 1998. She talked of wild birds including flocks of golden plovers which spent the winter in local fields and also about 200 different kinds of wild flowers that grow in the area. Wendy Barrett proposed the vote of thanks, raffle winners were Peggy Kettleborough, Ruth Coxon and Ann Browning. The meeting closed with the Probian toast.
