Met for their monthly lunch meeting in the Conservative Club Bowls Pavilion last Thursday. The President, Margaret Bucke, welcomed members and two guests. Heather Harding said the grace and lunch was served. The President reminded members that the October meeting for be the AGM. Ann Lovesey, secretary, read out a letter from Betty Smith thanking all for their cards during her recent hospital stay. Nancy Lakin, social secretary, reported on the visit to the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace, and also reminded members that the Silver Anniversary Dinner at the Park Inn, Bedford on this Saturday. The next pub lunch will be on November 14 at the Five Bells, Henlow, and on December 3 mince pies and wine with the President at the Bowls Pavilion. The outing to the Christmas Concert at Westminster Hall in on December 9 - details from Cliff Bucke. Peggy Kettleborough reminded members that the annual subscription £6 is due at the next lunch. Ruth Coxon arranged a quiz, raffle winners were Pauleen Belsham, Irene Bonner, Freda Ansell and Mona Blain. The meeting closed with the Toast to Probians everywhere.
