WHATEVER the weather this Bank Holiday weekend, it is guaranteed to be hot at a village festival.

Benington Chilli Festival, now in its sixth year, takes place between 10am and 5pm tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday with plenty of chilli plants, chilli products, hot cooking and cold beer for punters to enjoy.

New for this year will be two chilli eating competitions, where 12 contestants will attempt to eat a range of chillis - each increasing in heat - culminating with the Dorset Naga variety.

The competition will take place at 1pm on both days, with Monday’s winning prize presented by actor Hugh Bonneville of Downton Abbey fame.

Last year’s event at Benington Lordship Gardens attracted more than 5,000 people, with organisers hopeful of another bumper crowd.

Entrance costs 5 for adults and 2.50 for under 16s, while under 12s go free.

Free car parking is available on site. For more information visit www.beningtonlordship.co.uk
