FRENCH pupils received a Victorian education on their exchange visit to their twin town.
Marking the 30th anniversary of the link between Hitchin and Nuits St George, students from College Felix Tisserand visited the British Schools Museum.
They, along with pupils from Hitchin Boys' and Girls' schools, were given a monitorial lesson in the museum as part of their visit.
The French students were told how in 1814 the monitorial system, which allowed up to 330 children to be taught under one master, was introduced into France by Napoleon.
