A cricket-themed Weston pub is going into bat against rivals from across the UK after being named the best in Herts in a national contest.
The Cricketers will hoping to hit opponents for six at the National Pub & Bar Awards in London later this month.
Nearly 100 county winners selected by Pub & Bar magazine will be whittled down to 12 regional winners from which the judges will then pick a national champion.
The pub’s general manager Marek Vlk said: “We’ve got great support from the locals. We support four sports clubs within the village, and our reputation has got around. I think it works like that, where people will tell each other.
“It’s my first time running a pub and we took over the business only 16 months ago, so we’re absolutely thrilled to get recognised like this after such a short time. I think it’s a great team achievement.”
The finals will be at the BAFTA Theatre in London on May 24.
