Tesco announced today that up to 80 new jobs will be created when their enlarged store opens in London Road, Broadwater, in October.
The multi-million pound project has already started with the clearing of the site next to the current store that was previously owned by Specialist Cars, who are now in Gunnels Wood Road.
The new store will have just short of twice the current sales area of the Broadwater store and half the sales area of the Tesco store in the town centre. Also, there will be a petrol station.
Tesco says recruitment will start towards the end of the summer.
Britain's leading supermarket has also revealed that the Tesco Express store in the former Elmes Arcade in the High Street, Old Town, is scheduled to open for business on May 19 but this is subject to receiving the necessary planning consents.
