A second arrest has been made today following an altercation involving a knife in Stevenage town centre on Friday.

Officers arrested a 17-year-old boy from Stevenage on suspicion of criminal damage, affray and public order offences at about 11am in Lytton Way. He remains in police custody at this time.

The latest arrest comes after two teenage boys were involved in an argument that is reported to have turned violent, with one boy allegedly presenting a knife and threatening the other with it.

The altercation took place outside McDonalds in the town square at about 1pm on Friday.

Just prior to this a teenage boy was involved in a separate incident where he was allegedly verbally threatened by another teenager, who he claims appeared to be carrying a knife. This occurred just outside Primark.

The 17-year-old boy who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of affray has been released under investigation.

Dt Insp Graeme Walsingham said: “I would like to thank everyone who has come forward to help our investigation. If you have information which may help our enquiries and you have not yet spoken to us, please get in touch.”
