A teenage boy has been charged with arson with intent and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal following a blaze in Letchworth yesterday morning.
The fire broke out in the garden of a house in West View, after a rabbit hutch was allegedly set alight with the animal still inside – the flames spread to two nearby homes.
Everyone was accounted for, but police have now confirmed the pet rabbit died as a result of the fire.
The 17-year-old boy from Shefford is due to appear in Hatfield Magistrates’ Court this morning.
