Stevenage boss Teddy Sheringham has dismissed any worries about the lack of away win this season.

Boro head into this weekend’s game without a win in their opening four games away from The Lamex Stadium.

The latest trip to Barnet last Saturday resulted in a 3-2 defeat despite being in front on two occasions.

However Sheringham isn’t concerned.

He said: “We want to get the next win in the next game. There’s always something else in football that you can look for, something else to eradicate but we want to go and win our next game. And that’s Cambridge away.

“I know that they’re going to be a big strong team that we’ve got to compete against with our best attitude.”

That defeat to Barnet was described by the former England international as “woeful”.

But he says the team have already moved on.

“We had a few words after Saturday,” he said. “I don’t think anyone was happy with the second half performance or the result.

“We’ve had a look at it but we’ve moved on now. We’re looking at Cambridge and what we can do to go there and get a result.

“Whenever you lose it’s important you keep focus and stick together and hopefully we’ll put it right against Cambridge.”

Cambridge is just one point and five places above Stevenage and come into the game on a run of five without a win.

But the Boro boss was equally dismissive of that record.

He said: “We know it’s going to be a tough game whatever the situation, whether they’ve been losing or whether they’ve been winning.

“We’re going away from home, Cambridge has paid a lot of money out this year and they’ve got some good players up there so we know they can come into form at any time.

“It’s a good time four us to push on; it’s a good time to get results. Any time is a good time to get results.

“It’s a big game for us, same as the last one and same as the next one after that.

“We need to try and win three points. If not, take something out of the game which is potential a tough game, and go and attack.”

Sheringham remained tight-lipped over his team although he admitted that Connor Ogilvie would miss out with a hamstring injury.

One player though who has returned to training is Ben Kennedy and Sheringham said it was great to have him back.

He said: “I’ve only heard about what Ben can do but I’ve seen him twice in training this week and it’s fantastic to have him back.

“Anyone with any quality coming into the team, it could be like having a new signing.

“He’s full of beans, very excited, wants to be out there every day and I’m sure it won’t be long before he’s back in and around the first team.”
