Wanted: young chefs to take part in the first Hitchin Junior Chef competition set to take place this month.

Students from the area who have their hearts set on being the next Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay are required now.

So if you know your sous from your soufflé then get in touch with organisers.

The competition is in association with Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse, Waitrose, and North Herts College, and will feature chef Andrew Turner as head judge. It is open to all in full-time education between the ages of 12 and 17.

“We know there’s lots of budding chefs in Hitchin,” said Susie Taylor, lead organiser from Tilehouse Rotary Club,

“With many cooking shows on TV we’re hoping we get some interesting menus put forward.”
