A CANCER charity is appealing to people to take part in a fundraising coffee morning.
The annual World's Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support's largest fundraising event and Friday, September 26, is this year's official date for the event, although coffee morning hosts can always pick a more convenient date for them.
On Saturday, September 20, Lesley Lovett and five other quilters will be holding a coffee morning at Willian Village Hall between 10am and 1pm, in conjunction with Letchworth Garden City Women's Institute.
Lesley is a keen fundraiser for Macmillan because of the wonderful support she received from the nurses when her first husband died of mesothelioma, aged 48.
She said: "My husband had a lovely Macmillan nurse. She arranged it so that he could die with dignity in his own home with friends and family. She was there every step of the way and was fantastic."
All money raised will help Macmillan be a source of practical, medical, emotional and financial support to those affected by cancer.
Every cup of coffee drunk, every cake sold and every biscuit eaten will count, and every penny raised will be gratefully received by the charity.
The Willian quilters, as well as selling cakes and coffee, will also be raffling off two handmade quilts and selling handmade items such as cushions.
