SWIMMERS made a splash during Swimathon 2006 and helped to raise £2 million for a children's charity.
Money raised by participants at Stevenage Swimming Centre will mean charity NCH will be able to continue its work transforming the lives of vulnerable children in the community.
The centre was just one of 500 pools nationwide taking part to mark the event's 20th anniversary celebrations.
Sharon Hunter from Stevenage Swimming Centre said: "It's fantastic to see enthusiasm for Swimathon which just seems to grow each year. The support at our centre for NCH is fantastic, it just goes to show how many people in our community are willing to make an effort to help others, and of course they also reap the benefits by becoming healthier and more active by swimming."
