The suspension of a doctor at Stevenage’s Lister Hospital pending an investigation by the General Medical Council has been revoked.
Details of the investigation into Vladimir Filipovich - an orthopaedic associate specialist at the hospital - are not yet public, but the Comet reported in November how the GMC had asked the Medical Practitioners’ Tribunal Service to issue an interim suspension while allegations about his conduct were resolved.
Interim suspensions can be imposed for public protection, in the public interest, or in the interests of the doctor.
The interim suspension has now been lifted by the MPTS following a routine review. The doctor’s licence to practice has conditions attached to it, including having a ‘workplace reporter’.
A spokesman for the East and North Herts NHS Trust, which runs Lister, said the ongoing investigation follows the Trust’s referral of Dr Filipovich to the GMC last year.
