A man who was caught cultivating 30 cannabis plants in Letchworth has been given a suspended sentence.

Andrew Day, of Cromwell Road, pleaded guilty to growing cannabis when he appeared before Stevenage magistrates.

Chairman of the bench George Baxter sentenced the 30-year-old to eight weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.

He also ordered Day to complete 30 sessions of a ‘thinking skills’ course, as well as other rehabilitation activities.

Day must pay a £115 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.

The plants were discovered on December 2 last year. They were seized and have now been destroyed.
