A suspected drug dealer was arrested when officers raided a flat in Letchworth this morning, with class A drugs, an imitation handgun and cash seized.

The dawn raid in Spencer Way saw a 30-year-old man from Letchworth arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug and possession with intent to supply. He is now in police custody.

PC Lee Jessup, from Letchworth’s safer neighbourhood team – who led the bust at 6.30am – said: “Although drug related crime in Letchworth is low, when it does happen it can blight the community and we will not tolerate this.

“We are determined to drive drugs out of the area and will deal robustly with anyone believed to be involved in drugs offences.

“Through our own investigations and information from the public, we can work together to keep Letchworth safe and I would therefore strongly encourage people to always report suspicious activity to us should they come across it.”

Crime or suspicious activity can be reported on the police non-emergency number 101, or 999 if an offence is in progress.
