Two suspected class A drug dealers and an alleged dangerous driver were arrested in the early hours of this morning after a car chase from Letchworth to Ickleford.
Officers tried to stop a vehicle in Letchworth’s Icknield Way at 1.30am, and gave pursuit after it failed to stop.
The car’s occupants got out of the car in Ickleford and tried to flee on foot. Three people were subsequently arrested by police.
Police dog Vader was deployed with his handler to look for any discarded items, and nearby found a bag believed by police to contain class A drugs.
A 31-year-old man from Letchworth was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Officers also arrested a 36-year-old man from Baldock on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. He remains in custody at this time.
The third man detained was a 40-year-old man from Letchworth, who was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and possession of a bladed article. He also remains in custody.
