Schoolchildren and their families were out and ready to ‘surf up’ at this year’s Lordship Farm Primary School PTA summer social on Saturday.

The second annual summer social at the Letchworth school included a barbecue, a surfing competition, face painting, crafts and beach volley ball.

Crafty’s Beer Shop in Letchworth provided refreshments – with plenty of Pimm’s to go around – and R&E Family Butchers made burgers. Home-made jewellery was sold at the beach tuck shop and Bruce the shark provided photo opportunities for all.

Beach tunes played out across the field as pupils danced around in the surf and foam, and leapt between paddling pools to keep cool. As the day drew to a close, singer Lawrence Hill and band the Hong King Dollars both performed.
