A rising star is visiting Hitchin this weekend to sign copies of her highly-acclaimed book – and to encourage budding authors with a creative writing workshop.

Decima Blake will be at Hitchin Waterstones on Saturday to sign copies of her crime mystery novel Hingston’s Box.

The talented author will also be conducting a hour long workshop that will focus on setting scenes and introducing characters.

Excerpts from Hingston’s Box will be used as example of the different ways in which this can be achieved.

Decima told the Comet: “I’ll also be talking to the group about my experience of writing, including research, planning, plot development, redrafting to reach the final product, submissions to agents and publishers, publication and marketing.

“I really enjoy giving these workshops and can’t wait for Saturday’s event in Hitchin.”

Successful Decima is now busy writing her second Hingston novel full time.

Her first novel Hingston’s Box was published at the end of September 2016 and in intended for adult and young adult readers alike.

The workshop is for young adults aged 14 years and over.

Everyone who signs up to the workshop will receive handouts supporting the learning from the workshop, as well as advice from Pegasus Publishers about how to get published.
