A COMPANY has donated £500 to a Life After Stroke club ahead of its important fundraising disco.

The cash injection will help ensure that stroke survivors such as Ron Lamb and his wife Elizabeth, of Stevenage, who use the club can continue to benefit from the services offered by the Trust both medical and social.

Mr Lamb said: "The stroke club is something to look forward to, a definite date in the diary every month. The support and advice we get is great, but it also gives us the chance to socialise with other people in a similar situation to ourselves.

Elizabeth added: "We both enjoy the raffle and Ron benefits from the hair cuts and massages on offer at the sessions."

Russell Adams, managing director for the rail services division of May Gurney, said: "This charity provides vital support to members of the local community in which our rail services head office is based.

"The work that the Life After Stroke group does is invaluable and this is why we felt compelled to support the very necessary services they provide, through our £500 donation."

* It is hoped that much more money and awareness will be raised at a disco being held on Saturday (May 6) from 7.30pm until 1am, at Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre.

Tickets, priced £8, are still available for the event by calling 01438 781083 or emailing chris.obrien@nhs.net
