Stevenage will get another shot at overcoming Premier League Everton after the U18s booked their place in the FA Youth Cup third round.
Saturday’s goalfest at home to Cheltenham Town at the Lamex Stadium was clearly infectious as the U18s smashed six to see off Wealdstone.
First half goals for Jamie Silvester, Jack Storer, Ben Kennedy and Ed Jackson were added to in the second half by Brandon Carney and Morgan Bruce to complete the rout.
Having found the Toffees too sticky a proposition in both the League and FA Cups last season, Stevenage’s talented youngsters have a chance to make it third time lucky.
Boro ran Everton close in the League Cup before succumbing to their Premier League might in the final minute of extra time while they were beaten convincingly 4-0 at the Lamex Stadium last January in the world’s oldest cup competition.
