A team of volunteers from Stevenage are set to jet out to west Africa to build an adventure playground and school library.
Jay Drackford is leading the group, including seven students from Marriotts School and two pupils from Roebuck Academy, out for the Marriotts Gambia Project’s fourth annual trip to the country on the Atlantic coast.
The group, including Comet editor and Marriotts old boy Nick Gill, will return to its partner school at Kassa Kunda – which has adopted the Marriotts house names in honour of the two-year-old link to Stevenage.
Twenty-eight boxes of shelving units, donated books and tools were shipped out in November. The project group fly out on March 2.
Jay said: “We have had lots of support, and it has been great working with the school. We look forward to another fantastic trip.”
