THOUSANDS of people enjoyed a sizzler while celebrating a town show on Sunday as temperatures reached the late 20s.

With marching bands, mini stunt teams, football competitions dancing displays and dogs jumping through hoops there was plenty of fun on offer for people visiting the Stevenage Town Show on the King George V playing fields.

The event, formerly known as Stevenage Day, is the biggest in the town's calendar.

There were lots of different foods available including Caribbean and Thai, as well as popcorn and doughnuts.

The day was also a good opportunity for local organisations and charities to inform people about what they represent.

Alan Mitchell, organising secretary for the Stevenage Town Show committee, said: "All the stalls were surrounded by people and all the shows were ringed by people. We were pleased with the day, we got lots of good feedback.

"We hoped it helped to kick off Stevenage's diamond anniversary in a good manner.
